The time has arrived.. my skincare routine! I do not want to overwhelm you with millions of products so I decided I'm going to break it up by category. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn, but I thought I would highlight the products that have helped me achieve healthy, glowing skin by going through my current skincare routine. Side note, I change up my products pretty frequently hence why this is named 'current' skincare routine.
Just a little background of my skin.. I have pretty normal skin but it can get oily in the summer (especially because of the Florida humidity). I have hormonal breakouts and they are almost always on my chin.
Light a candle, put on some of your favorite jams and if you're really feeling the mood, put on a robe! I honestly look forward to doing my skincare routine everyday so I try to take my time and relax as much as possible.
So I usually don't wear a ton of makeup and can get it off just using my cleanser, but if I do need some extra help, I start off my soaking a cotton pad with Bioderma Micellar Water which is so light and effective. I have tried the Garnier one but it leaves my skin a little sticky so I prefer Bioderma.
At the moment I have been alternating between three cleansers depending on my skin/mood. I mostly use Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser because its gentle, but can take off a lot of my makeup. I also alternate between Clarins Cleansing Milk, which is basically a lotion that you don't need to wash off, and Biossance Squalane Cleansing Oil, which is hydrating and takes off all my makeup.
I have remained loyal to St. Ives Apricot Scrub as a physical exfoliator, but recently have been into chemical solutions. I've been using the Glossier Solution and have seen amazing results so far. It clears up acne and evens skin tone. A more gentle toner that I use is Clarins Toning Lotion with Chamomile, which clears up my pores and gets my skin ready for the next steps.
I try to do a face mask at least twice a week and choose one according to how my skin is. If I'm feeling oily or congested I put on my Boscia Charcoal Mask, which I have talked about before. If I just need a little glow boost I will put on a Sephora Sheet Mask or some of my Sicily Express Face Mask.
I've been alternating between a few moisturizers and love them all. When I had a layover in Paris, I stocked up on some Vichy Aquila Day Cream and Vichy Aquila Night Cream pair which I have been loving. Why is French pharmacy skincare so amazing?
When my skin is feeling a little dry or irritated I will use Glossier Rich Priming Moisturizer which smells like lavender and makes my skin so soft.
Serums and Oils
You may be thinking, wait I thought she has oily skin? Why would she be putting on more oil?! But the truth is both serums and oils actually help to balance out your skin and actually help control the shine. I have been using Biossance 100% Squalane Oil for my face, body, and hair. My number one favorite product is Biossance Squalane and Vitamin C Rose Oil. It has literally transformed my face and has given me a natural glow. Plus it's plant-based! I've gotten multiple friends of mine hooked on it, and trust me it's worth the price.
I've only recently started using eye creams cause ya know, grad school equals no sleep which means dark under eye circles. During my layover in Paris I also grabbed some La Roche-Posay Eye Cream, which has hydrated my under-eyes. I am still on the look out for a cream that will help with the pigmentation, so I will keep you updated on that.
This is so important people!! Why would you not put on sunscreen?! I've found that purchasing either moisturizers or foundations that contain sun protection guarantees that I will wear it daily. My all time favorite foundation that contains SPF is Shiseido UV Protective Liquid Foundation with SPF 42. It's water resistant and has great coverage.
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion for life. That is all.
Oh and I use Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment when I don't want to wear pink clay on my face in public.
So for now these are the products that I use! Let me know if you have any questions on the products.
