LEBANESE FETA DIP (SHANKLEESH)

This dip is a fan favorite. I used to bring it for lunch in high school and would have to hide it from my friends so that they wouldn't eat it all. It is so easy to make and tastes incredible- with only 5 ingredients! I love serving this dip, with pita or pretzel chips, as an appetizer or quick meal. The only tricky ingredient to find would be Za'atar, but if you can't find it at a local grocery store Amazon carries it. Here is the link to the Za'atar Spice

RECIPE

1 Block of Feta Cheese (don't get the already crumbled because its too dry) 

1 Tomato (you can add as much or as little as you like) 

1/3 Onion or 3 Green Onions 

1/2 Cup of Olive Oil (honestly I never measure specifically but taste as you go and add accordingly) 

4-5 Tablespoons of Za'atar (Middle Eastern mixture of spices such as sesame, thyme, oregano)

 

1. Crumble the feta block into a medium sized bowl

2. Chop the tomatoes and onion. Place into the bowl. 

3. Pour za'atar into bowl then mix all together.

4. When ready to serve add in olive oil, mix together, and enjoy with baked pita chips or pretzel chips!
